Biography Text
Definition
A biography is a story or information about a person's life. A biography is more complex than just a resume and data on a person's work, it also tells about the feelings involved in experiencing these events. The biography describes in full the life of a character from childhood to old age, even to death. All services, works, and everything that is produced or done by a character is also clarified. The biographical text was composed by others, not by myself.
Biography consists of two words, namely:
Bios which means life. Graphia which means writing.
Explanation
Function of Biography
• To know a person’s story about his/her life outside of any accomplishments this person may be known for.
• To give much information easily and educate the readers.
Characteristics of Biography
• Biography is not written by subject and always written in the third person.
• Based on research.
• Describes the person’s surroundings (where, when and how the person lived).
• Use vivid language to narrate events.
Generic Structure
• Orientation (Introduction)
It is the opening paragraph, gives the readers the background information of the person.
• Events
In events, should be in chronological order.
• Re-Orientation (Closing)
It consists of a conclusion or comment or the writer. Tell about the achievement or the contribution of the person.

Dr. Sc. multi. Bacharuddin Jusuf Habibie. He was born on June 25, 1936 in Pare-pare, South Sulawesi. B.J. Habibie is the fourth of eight children, including the couple Alwi Abdul Jalil Habibie and RA. Tuti Marini Puspowardojo. Definition of Narrative Text
A narrative text is an imaginative story to entertain people (teks narasi adalah cerita imaginatif yang bertujuan menghibur orang).
Generic Structure of Narrative Text
• Orientation : It is about the opening paragraph where the characters of the story are introduced (contains an introduction to the characters, the place and time of the story, who, what, when and where).
• Complication : Where the problems in the story developed (Permasalahan muncul/mulai terjadi dan berkembang).
• Resolution : Where the problems in the story is solved. Masalah selesai, secara baik “happy ending” ataupun buruk “bad ending”.
• Coda / reorientation (optional) – lesson from the story.
Purpose of Narrative Text
• The Purpose of Narrative Text is to amuse or to entertain the reader with a story.
• The Characteristics/Language Feature of Narrative Text.
• Past tense (killed, drunk, etc).
• Adverb of time (Once upun a time, one day, etc).
• Time conjunction (when, then, suddenly, etc).
• Specific character. The character of the story is specific, not general. (Cinderella, Snow White, Alibaba, etc).
• Action verbs. A verb that shows an action. (killed, dug, walked, etc).
• Direct speech. It is to make the story lively. (Snow White said,”My name is Snow White). The direct speech uses present tense.

Masjid Sultan Suriansyah is a historical mosque. Built 300 years ago, this building is the oldest mosque in South Kalimantan. The mosque is located in the North Kuin Village of Banjarmasin. It was built in the reign of Sultan Suriansyah known as Pangeran Samudera. He was the first Banjarnese King who converted into Islam. This mosque was found on the bank of the Kuin River, near KampungKraton, which was destroyed by the Dutch colonial.
The construction of Masjid Sultan Suriansyah was unique. The roof is layered. It took the Banjar's past architecture before Islam came. Different from any other old mosques in Banjar, the mihrab has its own roof, separated from the main building.

Bale Kambang is a small village in the Southern coast of East Java, seventy kilometers from Malang town and two hours' drive from South. It is well known for its long beautiful white sandy beach as well as the similarity of its temple to the one of Tanah Lot in Bali.

Definition of Descriptive Text
Descriptive Text is a text which says what a person or a thing is like. Its purpose is to describe and reveal a particular person, place, or thing.
Generic Structure of Descriptive Text
When writing descriptive text, there are some generic structures (actually not mandatory) for our writing to be true. The arrangement is:
• Identification: (contains about the introduction of a person, place, animal or object will be described.)
• Description: contains a description of something such as animal, things, place or person by describing its features, forms, colors, or anything related to what the writer describe.
Purpose of Descriptive text
• To describe person, thing or place in specific
• To describe a particular person, thing or place.
Language Feature of Descriptive Text
• Specific participant : has a certain object, is not common and unique (only one). for example: Bandengan beach, my house, Borobudur temple, uncle Jim
• The use of the adjective (an adjective) to clarify the noun, for example: a beautiful beach, a handsome man, the famous place in jepara, etc.
• The use of simple present tense: The sentence pattern used is simple present because it tells the fact of the object described.
• Action verb: verbs that show an activity for example, run, sleep, walk, cut etc.

Procedure Text
Procedure text is a text that explains or helps us how to make or use something. Its social function is to describe how something is completely done through a sequence of steps. Communicative purpose of this text is to describe how something is made through a sequence of actions or steps.
Definition of Procedure Text
There are three definition about procedure text : (1)Texts that explain how something works or how to use instruction / operation manuals e.g. how to use the video, the computer, the tape recorder, the photocopier, the fax. (2) Texts that instruct how to do a particular activity e.g. recipes, rules for games, science experiments, road safety rules. (3) Texts that deal with human behavior, e.g how to live happily, how to succeed
Generic Structure of Procedure Text
# Goal : (e.g : How to make spaghetti)
# Material or Ingredient : (e.g : the material to cook omelette are egg, onion, vegetable oil, etc. )
# Step : (e.g : first, wash the tomatoes, onion, …., second cut the onions becomes slice. . . )
Purpose of Procedure Text
– To explain/tell (the reader) how to make/operate/do something through a sequence of actions or steps.
– To explain steps/instruction to make/operate/do something
Language Feature of Procedure Text
– Use adverbial of sequence / Using temporal conjunction (e.g: first, second, third, the last)
– Use command / imperative sentence (e.g : put the noodles on the . . ., cut the onion. . ., wash the tomatoes. . . )
– Using adverbials (Adverbs) to express detail the time, place, manner accurate, for example, for five minutes, 2 hours, etc.
– Using action verbs, e.g : make, take, boil, cook
– Using Simple Present Tense
